Steamboat Rock rifle team claimed its first winter gallery shoot win in the Hawk Eye conference defeating Postville 742 to 715. Four shooters Lewis Crosser 188 Leo Daleske 186 Russell Van Dornum 185 Otto Filbrandt 183 backed the victory in prone and standing positions. Other teams in the round robin include Nevada Bloomfield and Des Moines. The Steamboat Rock Baptist church congregation gave $500 at the annual building fund offering led by pastor Rev. Howard Johnson. The fund now totals nearly $10,000, with no immediate building plans. Next Sunday morning’s sermon closes Galatians and the evening sermon is “Spiritual Bankruptcy.”

Pleasant Township Rural Women Meet for Lesson on Democracy
Mrs. Abbie Eagan reports that 20 women and several children gathered at Mrs. Leonard White's home on February 16 for the Pleasant Township Rural Women meeting. Presiding was Mrs. Lyle Tatum. Home Economist Mary Frances Kelly taught a lesson on Democracy in the home, followed by discussion. A pot luck dinner was served.
