Mr and Mrs Lester Trickey joined Thursday supper with Mr and Mrs HL Moore in Eldora as the Moore 45th wedding anniversary was celebrated. Norman Pfattz-Braff and son from Stout visited Mr and Mrs Gene Hansen. Jackson Township 4 H clubs aided by Yeaders served about 200 oyster chowder suppers at the Owasa dining room. Owasa and Clemons boys split a 26-24 game, and Owasa beat Clemons 63-50 in an unscheduled matchup. Pine Lake injuries and flu affected players while Crosser strained an ankle after the tournament. Janice Fuller qualified for a free throw contest at Waerloo district, placing third in the 25-shot round. Mr and Mrs James Heard welcomed a daughter Feb 17, Eldora hospital, and Mr and Mrs Dale Eldridge welcomed a son Feb 16.

Beeken Dies After Premature Birth at Grundy Center
Mrs Lutjen G Beeken died at Grundy Center Memorial hospital from toxemia pregnancy after delivering a 3 pound premature son, Delbert Lee, who survived and is in good condition. Funeral services were held at Engelkes Funeral Home and American Lutheran church with burial in Grafdy Center cemetery. Valeriea Julia Thoren, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Thoren, born Feb 14 1934 near Grundy Center, attended Indy Center high school in 1952 and worked at C P Dudden Tax Service and Farmers Cooperative in Dike. The couple, married Sept 22 1934, lived with his parents in Grundy Center. she is survived by husband, infant son, two sisters, and grandparents.

Jane Perkins To Represent EHS In State Contest
Jane Perkins of Eldora High School won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow contest following the top score on a 50 minute written exam testing homemaking knowledge and attitudes. She will compete for the All-American Homemaker title, receive a golden award pin and cookbooks for herself and the school, and earn a $1,500 state winner scholarship plus a school trip to Washington DC Williamsburg and Philadelphia. General Mills sponsors the program to promote homemaking careers and the Britannica encyclopedia set goes to her school.

Mrs Shaver 89 Dies at Albion Home
Mrs Susan Alice Shaver, 89, mother of Alva Shaver of Eldora, died at a son Pearl’s Albion home Thursday morning after seven years in Albion. Born May 22, 1865 to Peter and Elizabeth Lunsford, she married Thomas E. Shayer in 1887. he died in 1939. Survived by four sons Pearl Albion, Alva Eldora, Lee Newton, Fred Newton, and a daughter Mrs Floyd England Daw son. two sons and a daughter preceded her.

The Buckeye Hawkettes 4-H club will screen a film on the new hog disease rhinites at its next meeting in Buckeye community hall. A free will offering will be collected. proceeds go to the county youth building. Gilbert Lettow becomes a new member at a recent gathering hosted by Donald Rastetter.
