Yesterday in 1885 Mayor J S Hadley fractured his right hip after slipping on ice in his yard. Dr Underwood reduced the fracture. he is doing well but will be sidelined for several weeks. J P Burling has returned from Grinnell after attending school. A five mile walking match at the ring featured Prof Ellis of New York and Harvey Snyder of Eldora with Ellis prevailing in 35 minutes 43 seconds. Eldora sports cry foul, claiming Snyder would have placed better with a fair field.

The Women’s Society of Christian Service held its annual party at the church parlor led by Mrs. Cleo Ward. Members wrapped cookie fruit and candy boxes for county home residents as Mrs. Nell Stielow poured tea, with red and green decorations and a чай service.
Mr and Mrs Bill Schuneman of Steamboat Rock visited Tuesday evening with Mr and Mrs Gene Hansen Mr and Mrs Cecil Kinney and Linda in Marshalltown. They were dinner guests in the home of her parents Mr and Mrs W R Duncan.
The Pine Lika Wildlife club will hold its annual meeting at the club house on Thursday evening to elect officers for 1951. Nominations will be made.
The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs announce a Christmas gathering Eldora lodge with a party and sale of new Wildlife club lapel pins. The decision was made directly from the floor rather than a nominating committee report at the recent directors’ meeting.
A potluck supper at 6 30 PM on Friday December 29 at the hall will be followed by a party and gift exchange. Entertainment will be provided.
