At the Hardin county fair the junior livestock show proceeded efficiently with W. F. LaGrange of Iowa State College providing running commentary. In high school she sang with Gordon Wisner troupe, graduated Eldora High in 1941, studied in California, and excelled as a basketball high scorer.
Mrs Katharine Piper recalls a rambled sequence of stops with children from Kenora to Itasca Park. vivid scenes include the Port Arthur elevators the Kenora holiday crowd and a bear sighting while the family cherishes the Grand Marais cake and a handfed ground squirrel.
Mrs. George B. Bergeson aged 78 died at her home after a two weeks illness. She is survived by daughter Agnes and two sons George M. and Porter D. Bergeson. Funeral at Our Savior Lutheran church with Rev P L Mark officiating. Burial in Radcliffe cemetery. Marcus family reunion attended Hubbard park. Mr and Mrs Edwin Wilson are parents of a son born August 13 at Municipal hospital.
Mrs. C. L. Drake and son Bobby returned from Des Moines after Bobby’s three week hospital stay and jaw surgery at Blank Memorial. Nellie Myers and Forrest Sheldon visited Lucy Jones and Lulu. Lenna Lakin left Estherville after four weeks with Daisy Drake. Calvin Crawford, Vernal Fayne, and Sylvia Osborne visited the Prescott home. Martyn Mossman attended a surprise birthday for Robert Beatty in Ames. Iver Hednefield and Kenneth Cammack family plan a Wisconsin visit. Mrs. George Sheldon and Marion Moon visited Eldora. Wesley Granton of Hubbard spent the afternoon in town.
The I. FE. and Kenneth Cammack home reports Kenneth Cammack, who has been quite ill for a couple of weeks, is able to be up for most of the day now, marking a notable improvement in his condition.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Johnson of this place and Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Johnson of Liscomb went to Rochester Minnesota Thursday to see their sister Mrs. E. B. Watson who had been a patient in a hospital.
Mrs. Watson, long afflicted with a brain tumor, died about an hour before her brothers arrived at the hospital in Rochester. She had been flown from California for an operation. Etta Johnson, who moved to Radcliffe with her family in 1904, attended the local school and was among early residents.
