Hardin county ushers in the 79th county fair this week with a streamlined three day program. Highlights include Wreck Em Rodeo after noon and evening shows Thursday, Friday afternoon harness racing, Fair Vogues of 1950 Friday night, stock car races Saturday afternoon, and a society horse show Saturday evening. Educational displays, 4-H competitions in beef, dairy, foods, and nutrition, rides for all ages, and absence of gambling games mark the event.
Eldora offers $1 haircuts inspiring fear and humor among locals. Citizens quarrel over options from long locks to crew cuts as the price rise of 33 percent fuels a lighthearted grooming controversy about appearance and value.
Yesterday’s events include Capt Al Webb exposing a framed building in the new Tipton township town of New Chicago where he will open a hardware store with J M Christy. J Q Irvin moved the English elevator from Union to Whitten as Millie Hammer Co started a lumber yard at the new Tipton station.

Numerous locals and relatives travel among Eldora Iowa Falls Radcliffe Newton Mason City and Owasa with hospital calls and a large Trickey family picnic featuring Rev and Mrs Trickey of Alton Ill and many Trickeys from Iowa Falls Eldora and Owasa. N B Stuart returns home Friday morning after a period away.
Spending the past two and a half weeks in New York City Mr and Mrs Ray Teske and Virginia visited Thursday evening in Ackley with Mr and Mrs John Shugar Virginia stayed for the night and returned home on Friday

Previous minutes approved and July hospital and clerk reports filed. Finance Committee update and bills list approved including payrolls taxes maintenance and supplier charges.
