Hardin County Board of Supervisors now seeks a sheriff to replace Robert D. Callaway after Judge Peter Van Metre ordered his permanent removal. Temporary Sheriff Lowell McCormick will hold the post until a successor is named. applications are due by 10 a.m. April 20.

Three Day Eldora Jaycee Home Show Opens Friday
The Eldora Jaycees present a three day Home Show at the Hardin County Youth Building with 25 exhibitors. The event runs Friday 1 to 9 pm, Saturday 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 1 to 5 pm. Door prizes and gift certificates donated by local merchants will be awarded, and exhibitors will hold registrations for give aways.

New Providence Forms Ruritan Civic Club Charter Monday
The New Providence Ruritan Club will receive its national charter Monday April 18 at 7 p.m. in the New Providence school cafeteria. Jerry Retzlaff of Ottumwa will present the charter. Twenty six people attended a recent organizing meeting as the club plans monthly meetings and elects permanent officers. Founded 1928 in Virginia, the Raritan federation supports rural urban understanding and community progress with 20 clubs in Iowa.

Eldora Police Department answered 70 complaints in March per Chief Galen Busch. Major cases included 13 dog incidents, six traffic violations, five larceny cases totaling 431 dollars with 62 recovered, five domestic disturbances, five accidents, and five alarm responses. Also three open business doors, two prowler calls, two assaults, two drug incidents, plus one fraud, one liquor violation, one family disturbance, one vandaliam case, one OMVAS, one attempted death by own action, and 16 miscellaneous calls. Six adults were arrested, five men and one woman, and one juvenile female.
