Contouring follows field contours to prevent run off, with short rows reduced by contour strip cropping and sod waterways. A three year rotation of corn oats meadow and terraces with waterway improvements enhances moisture retention and productivity. Soil Conservation Service technicians assist, urging spring field planning for improved land use and higher production.
