Fourth of July Celebration Planned in Independence Day

A big Independence Day celebration is proposed with plans for a large public event. Organizers aim to mark the Fourth of July with parades concerts and fireworks in the city center.

A Gardiner chamber meeting at 10 A M proposed a heavy Fourth of July program with military elements. Gen L M Openheimer elected chair. Proposals include troops from Las Cruces and Mesilla, music, speeches, a Declaration reading, fireworks, and a possible governor invite. Estimated cost about 1000 dollars. Committees named for finance, firework, and events. Secretary Russell urged coordinating with teachers convention crowds.

Summer Cruises Depart From Annapolis Training Vessels

The naval practice ships Newport and Chesapeake with cadet crews sail from Annapolis for a two month cruise off the Atlantic coast. Newport is a steam gunboat and Chesapeake a sailing training ship. Torpedo boat Gwin also departs for Newport News to join the North Atlantic squadron for the summer.

Mexican man dead in accidental self inflicted gunshot

Jose Maria Galois a Mexican resident living south of the caral between Utah and Oregon streets was found dead by a pistol shot said to be accidental. Neighbors heard the shot at five o'clock yesterday morning and he appeared to have dropped the revolver causing it to discharge into his groin and bowels. He died after being taken to Nagley and Liors undertaking establishment where funeral arrangements are handled.

Narrow Escape at 415 El Paso Street Mrs Early
