London reports a heavy British loss in the western Transvaal as General Clements’s force suffers a severe defeat at Nooitgadacht. Col. Legge and Capt. Macbean Capt. Murdock and Capt. Atkins are listed among the fallen with 2,500 Boers attacking, four Northumberland fusiliers captured.

In Eldorado Kansas on December 14 the Morrison jury reported no possible agreement after noon session. SAN ANTONIO Texas December 14 The grand jury indicted leading members of the electrical union for unlawfully assembling and inciting riot on Thanksgiving day when the killing occurred.
In the Carnival Queen election the results show several candidates with votes tallied this afternoon. Claire Kelly and Trumbull lead with 451 votes, while Irma Schutz has 111, Gertrude Catlin 62, Beall 7, Sexton and Higgins 1 each, and Lyons Allen Hagzart Green Ethel Catlin Falvey Campbell, Brunschwig Reckhart each receive five votes.
James Griffin’s household celebrated the birth of a baby girl yesterday evening.
