Canton Ohio December 6 1901 news reports say Mrs McKinley remained alive at 3 PM after a physician’s close inspection at 9:45 AM indicated she might survive the day. Abner McKinley informed the White House of the evaluation as family and children watched at her bedside.
John F. Morgan the Jackson county triple murderer is confirmed captured in Walton after entering a small store. Constable John Camp confronted him with a revolver and Morgan, exhausted and unarmed, submitted to arrest.
Chicago December 6 The defense star witness in the second Luetgert trial will likely be Luetgert himself to tell his story to the jury. Attorney Harlan has decided to let him testify first. If the jury is completed before five this afternoon the state will ask Judge Gary to proceed with the trial immediately.
A Lake House fire in Milwaukee early today killed Charles Patterson as sixty guests slept. Several guests were seriously injured by smoke and jumping from the burning hotel, including A Hensham, D Baker, T O'Brien, R Potter and F Mailand.

Judge Walling rejects Edwin D. Heidler appeal for new trial in the murder of Levi Kreider over money disputes. Heidler was sentenced to death and his execution date awaits Governor Hastings. This would be Erie County’s first hanging in fifty years after Heidler briefly escaped from jail and was recaptured in Detroit after a month-long search.
Secretary Long sent a formal note to Miss Christine Bradley daughter of Kentucky's governor inviting her to christen the battleship named for the state. He said the exact launching date would be announced later and would occur in January at Newport News.
