Woman earns bronze in national karate kata and may join Pan Am team
Linda Marquardt a 29-year-old Edmonds resident with a black belt shows flair in karate kata. She placed fourth in women’s kata at nationals in Cleveland earning alternates status for the Pan Am Games and possible World Cup in Budapest. She plans to chase gold next year in Copenhagen amid strong training and race against nerves. She trains at least ten hours weekly, supported by Albertsons, and views karate as self defense and personal growth rather than team sport.
