City and Port of Edmonds clash over flagpole permit

The Port of Edmonds erected a 65 foot flagpole near Admiral Way without a city building permit or height variance. The port seeks fee waiver for a 250 dollar variance, but city officials say the fee cannot be waived. Lynnwood tightens pit bull ordinance amid protests

Lynnwood council left the muzzle law intact while adding teeth to its vicious dog rules. The panel approved a measure to impound and terminate any dog that bites humans more than once with a 48 hour appeal window and a 20 day hearing deadline. Discussion next meeting may require bonding or medical liability insurance for potential dangerous dogs. An earlier July ordinance already requires muzzles for three pit bull breeds in public.

Schools Open on Schedule in Edmonds

Edmonds teachers and district officials averted disruptions to the 1986-87 opening after the Edmonds Education Association approved a compromise package. EEA president Julie Green said the vote was not unanimous as burdened negotiations concluded with a show of hands Tuesday night. The Edmonds School Board followed with adoption of the agreement at a special meeting.
