A used book sale at Edmonds High School Cafeteria raised 8000 for the Sno-Isle Regional Library System. Net proceeds fund new materials for two counties as more than 300 lined up before 9 a.m. Forty tons of items including 30 000 books art prints records and films were sold in seven hours.
Laura Jones of Everett will marry John Stoeser of Edmonds in Mukilteo on March 3 1984. Laura, a Washington State University senior, interned at Hinton Steel and Nelson and graduated Cascade High School in 1979. John is an Edmonds High School alumnus and works as an accountant for Shell Oil in Houston Texas.
Mr and Mrs Sheldon Ellis of Lynnwood recently marked their 65th wedding anniversary at Alderwood Manor Community Church. Guests aged 90 and older attended in the church Fireside Room with a great granddaughter aged two months as the youngest. Irene Hausma sang Oh Promise Me and Earl Gilkey played old time organ pieces. The couple wed in Brooklyn and moved to the area in 1943 after time in Great Falls Seattle and Boeing. They have a son Calvin Ellis, a daughter Ruth Callen, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The Pacific Northwest Writers Conference sponsors its 1984 annual High School Writers contest open to grades nine through 12 with categories nonfiction short story and poetry. Three cash prizes awarded in each category. Entries due January 15 1984. Prizes at the Mid-Winter Banquet February 25 1984. It requires equal population, compactness, and barriers to protect fairness, with amendments possible only by two thirds vote. The ballot also covers harbor lease term limits and energy conservation funding provisions.
