Edmonds Port OKs mid marina development plan
Port of Edmonds Commission last week authorized the Corps of Engineers to obtain necessary permits for developing the mid marina area of the waterfront. Commission president Gordon Maxwell said breakwater work could start next year to add 118 moorage slips at an estimated cost of 3 to 3.2 million dollars. He noted financing needs, with about 2 million expected by next year and possible short-term loans or bonds. Harbor Square revenue could help fund the project, as five of nine buildings are built and projected annual income reaches 130 thousand dollars. The south marina was built first, the middle area formerly boathouse space now owned by the port, with the development area measuring about 300 by 600 feet.
