Rape case appeal delayed for Michael Green
Everett attorney Mark Mestel says the Michael Green appeal has been filed but will require about a year for appellate review. Green, a former University of Washington football player, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a rape at Edmonds Community College and faces King County sentencing for two armed robberies and a simple assault. The crimes occurred in September 1985, the same month Brenda Gere, a 12 year old, disappeared in North Creek. Green was later named a suspect in Gere's abduction. A two week Snohomish County trial in July found Green guilty of one count of rape and not guilty of an attempted rape.

The suspect is a fair-complexioned white man 30 to 40, 160 to 170 pounds, 5 feet 8 to 10, with medium-brown receding hair. He was seen leaving in a light-blue pickup with a white canopy and bubble windows, possibly a mid to late 1970s Datsun.
