City park to get Ballinger Playfield upgrade

Mountlake Terrace approves a 281000 Ballinger Playfield project adding a multi use playfield hardball court and a walking trail. Plans include two parking lots 78 spaces, 30 more stalls at a nearby golf course and a restroom, with trees shrubs and metal skirted poplars to curb vandalism and root damage. Federal state and city funding will share costs.

Nile addition tops permits in Terrace building notices

Mountlake Terrace reports show a 1 171 000 Nile temple expansion and total April permits at 1 288 625. May permits dip to 189 918 with most of 44 projects for home renovations such as fences chimneys reroofing or car ports. One ground up house at 23810 52nd Ave West for 72 762. Patrick Malloy converted a garage to a residence for 51 000 and a gazebo for 700 by Surronnal F Tanner at 23903 54th Ave West. Last year April permits were 1 162 945 and 1982 May permits 88 606.

Edmonds and Kingston Plan Big Fourth Celebrations

Edmonds hosts a 2 pm downtown parade led by Rosalynn Sumners with a chicken barbecue, mini airshow, boats, and a 4 to 6 pm concert sequence at City Park and a dusk fireworks display. Kingston’s Old Fashioned Fourth includes a noon parade along Highway 104, slug races, bathtub dash, street dance, and aerial fireworks.

Enterprise Announces Early Deadlines For Fourth Of July Week

The Enterprise will observe early deadlines this week due to Independence Day. Classified ads for the July 6 edition must be submitted by Friday 2 p.m. News copy is due Friday at noon. The office will close Monday.

Fair Use of Snohomish Energy targets ratepayer relief

The group FUSE unveils a Fair Rate Campaign 83 aiming to cut utility taxes and eliminate the PUD customer service charge while seeking winter shut-off bans for low income or fixed-income seniors. They plan a July 9 Forest Park Everett kickoff and will lobby city councils, advocate earlier hearing notices, and push evening PUD meetings along with senior discounts and conservation efforts.

Food bank in Mountlake Terrace near collapse from funds loss

Mountlake Terrace The South County food bank faces possible closure before September as donations wane. Rev. Richard Gibson of Terrace View Presbyterian Church reports a drop from 28000 to under 6000 dollars by June, with April May and early June expenditures depleting remaining funds.
