Success program helps Snohomish youths land summer jobs
Cheryl Johnson, 19, a Lynnwood High graduate, works for a freight firm after joining the federally funded Success program. The program, run in Snohomish County, places low income students ages 14 through 21 in paid work, offers training, counseling, and workshops, and expands during the summer. Despite funding cuts, organizers aim to broaden access as the pipeline to jobs grows. Johnson credits early office work, resume and interview training, and job shadowing for her career start.
