Stroke survivor Hap Kennedy learns to speak again
Hap Kennedy, a 60 year old medical records technician, suffered a stroke that left her aphasic and partially paralyzed. Doctors removed two brain clots in separate operations, and she spent time comatose in intensive care before regaining some speech with therapy and a special word and picture book. Her husband Ray and their son Joel support her in an Edmonds nursing home as she relearns communication and writing with her left hand.
