Downtown post office official Pat Wetzel said the reason is unclear and the visit may be rescheduled. Hyde Park residents and business leaders note rumors that the new facility could land in Hyde Park Plaza after long debated consolidation of three branches.

A Saturday parade at Madisonville forms at Bramble School 11 30 a m and travels to Lyon Jr High as part of the festival events. The march features Withrow High School band and various civic groups. Prizes will honor best teaching unit and best float with community participation from St Paul Lutheran School United Workers of Southwestern Christian College and others. Food games and music round out the day, with organizers urging more volunteers.

Hyde Park residents oppose creeping commercialization plan
Hyde Park Residents Association packed Knox Presbyterian Church on Sept. 12 to blast a proposed Hyde Park Executive Park project by Jack Brendamour. City officials and six council members attended as Brendamour described a five story office tower with first floor retail and a corner bank. Residents demanded a moratorium on zone changes, a city planner for Hyde Park, strict housing enforcement, and no widening of Wasson Road.
