Community leaders gathered October 23 at a Hyde Park sponsored meeting to discuss the Grandin Road Viaduct. City official Jim Johns spoke on the bridge's stressed life and the possibility of its removal.
Steve Faris, Cincinnati's Contemporary Conjurer, builds a touring act from card tricks to grand stage shows. He works weekly at King’s Island, appears on local TV, and runs a junior magicians club while planning classrooms and performances. He emphasizes self-teaching, libraries, and magic clubs to start careers.
Mariemont district leaders report the operating levy campaign is on track with over 450 endorsements, about 40 percent of target. Board discusses desegregation rumors, gym schedule changes, and new parent schol records viewing rules while approving health insurance rider to cut costs.
State Representative James Rankin outlines priorities for Ohio including higher education funding and subsidies, a freeze on student fees, expansion of grant programs, and admission policies favoring Ohioans. Ohio state representative candidate Larry J. Williams accuses incumbent James W. Rankin of neglecting Hyde Park and Oakley in the 25th District. Williams says he has campaigned everywhere and signs and door knocks in all neighborhoods while Rankin has made no appearances or signs there. He calls on Rankin to prove he represents all residents and ensure equal representation in the final week before election.
Mrs. Gerald Schaeper praises local coverage in Hilltop News the CSMI paper she receives. She notes strong response to a garage sale ad and thanks the staff for covering community matters. She mentions sharing the good word with 83 000 homes with permission.
The city planning commission voted to disapprove a zoning change from R-5 to R-5 for properties at 2715 and 2717 19 Observatory Rd. Petitioners were represented by real estate agent Mrs. Martha Berling at the Sept. 27 meeting. The bulletin notes the change was opposed to preserve adequate zoning and align expansion with a broader redevelopment plan.
