Mariemont Names Jess Applegate Fire Chief After Rabe Retirement
At the April 8 village council meeting Mayor Charles Straley announced the appointment of Jess Applegate as fire chief, succeeding the retiring Chief Rabe who welcomed the move. The council approved the appointment 5 to 1 with Councilman Davies dissenting citing process concerns. A good citizenship award went to Neil Ritze for meritorious service assisting police in a fraud probe involving a deaf mute suspect. The meeting also approved a Seagrave pumper bid of 54,269 for the department, and discussed safety and public works matters including street repairs and park lighting requests. The council noted bids for a maintenance truck and welcomed new pool manager Louis Flores Jr. and a new volunteer firefighter, Thomas Driggers.

Queen City Metro expands routes to extend weekday service
Queen City Metro announces increased service on 21 routes effective April 14 in the Eastern city sector. Additional weekday trips on rus hours and daytime runs on routes 69 Madisonville and 71 Cumminsville Oakley will improve access to Shillito's Distribution Center and nearby facilities. New timetables and hand schedules will be posted, with customer service reachable at 621 4455.
