Avco executive Lewin named vice president of Avco Film Productions

Joseph Lewin of Hyde Park is elected VP of Avco Film Productions a division of Avco Broadcasting. He heads the new industrial film unit directing public relations training sales and employee indoctrination films. Lewin formerly led Communst Services at WLWT and is a 1964 UC Fine Arts graduate married with four children. Local groups press delay on U S 50 relocation plan amid further study requests by the Department of Transportation.

Bank Robbery in Madisonville Provident Branch Reported

Two men aged about 25 to 30 robbed the Madisonville Provident Bank last week at noon, fleeing with about $5,000. Police seek suspects described as 5 ft 8 in with a black leather jacket and 5 ft 11 in to 6 ft tall in a pink jacket and white tam hat. bank manager Tom Gunning says tellers were forced to the counter as cash drawers were looted and money carried in a light wool pouch.

Mariemont Fire Department Offers Youth Safety Courses

The Mariemont Fire Department announces a three hour basic fire safety program for youths aged 10 to 18 in the Mariemont School District with adults welcome. The April 20 and 27 sessions cover causes of fire drills calling the fire department and babysitting safety. Certificate signed by the fire chief and state fire marshal awarded on completion. Little Miami River Cleanup Plans Detailed For April Weekend

Cincinnati Sierra Club and Little Miami Inc plan the third annual Little Miami River cleanup for April 29 and 30. Volunteers will work from three command posts along Hamilton Clermont segments starting at 9 a.m. Canoe float efforts will be coordinated by Carol Hutchinson. Governor Gilligan praised the second cleanup and the river’s scenic status, while talks of federal scenic river inclusion continue. Roads near Red Bank Road are set to reopen in late May after a 100 foot landslide, with May completion hoped.

Gemologist joins Oakley Jewelry firm

Richard V. Trowbridge, a certified gemologist and registered jeweler with the American Gem Society and Ohio Retail Jewelers Association, has joined Sharp's Jewelers at 3049 Madison Rd as gem expert and jewelry appraiser. He will design pieces and offer public appraisals as of July 1 marking 38 years in the jewelry field.

Council approves study funding for Ault Park preservation

Cincinnati City Council backs a capital improvements committee report and a communication from Daniel T. Dougherty of the Ault Park for People Committee. The request seeks funds for a comprehensive study by the Board of Park Commissioners to determine the best preservation and improvement plan for Ault Park, to be included in the 1972 capital improvements report.
