Wolves Captured in Den Near Chesterville
Joe Somers captured five wolf pups near Chesterville on his prairie place after locating a den. He dug them out, held them in a screened box, and took the five pups to Columbus on Monday to claim a two dollar bounty per scalp.

Census shows white and Mexican pupil gains in Engie Lake district
The 1930 Engie Lake Independent School District census reports 40 more white pupils than last year and 18 fewer Black pupils as five to six year olds join the count. Mexican enrollment doubles in three years with eighty five students in district and about a dozen older Mexican children attending city schools.

Garwood Commencement Exercises Announced

Postoffice Safe at Egypt Burglarized Night of Theft
The FR Duncan & Bro store at Egypt was burglarized on Thursday night last week. The post office safe was robbed and a failed attempt was made to enter the store safe, which was damaged. Only a small sum of money was taken. The Duncan store and the post office safe had been previously burglarized months ago.

Negro Charged With Criminal Assault on a Young White Girl
A 13 year old Negro, W. Boyd, was arrested near Columbus by Deputies Herder and Obenhaus on a charge of criminal assault against a 17 year old white girl. Sheriff Hilmer moved the prisoner to a jail in another county for safety. The offense reportedly occurred in December but was not reported until this week. The sheriff and Judge Hahn led the investigation after the arrest.

The City of Eagle Lake a present and future miniature city built in soap by seventh grade students under Mrs C G Kolberg’s supervision. The model shows a complete city with lake, railroads, golf links, parks, a vocational school, gymnasium and broadcasting station.
