Mrs Lig Woods of Houston announced she will return May 15 to open a temporary clinic on Whe Drummers Home. Eagle Lake needs a clinic or emergency hospital and Woods believes local support will ensure success. Miss Ruth Burger of Southwest Texas State Teachers College visited the Burger family this weekend.
The revival at the Christian church led by Rev. W. CG Weight continues with notable Bible sermons this week. Tonight’s topic is The New Birth with other deep subjects explored earlier in the week. The meeting will close Sunday night.
Two local banks announce summer hours starting Monday May 12 with early closing at 3.00 pm on weekdays and 1.00 pm on Saturdays. On May 24 they extend morning operations to 9.00 am and close at 4.00 pm. Sag Friday business and Reyer branch follow different schedules. From August 16 both banks revert to former hours 8 am to 4 pm.
Dr. Vielar Strauss, aged about 34, formerly of Shiner born March 25 1900, died May 1 after operations at Tetch Rosenberg hospital. A East Bernard physician since 1827 he married Mills Constance Powers of St Louis. Survived by his parents Mr and Mrs George J Strauss Hallettsville and several siblings.
San K Seymour Jr reports Citizens' Military Camp opens June 12 and runs to July 1 near San Antonio. Colorado county youths may apply at Headlight office. ten days left for acceptance. Camp targets young men 16 to 25 of good character and fitness. applications limited. The event promises a period of military training and civic discipline.

Former Eagle Lace official Thomas Toliver won a two year board seat in the April city election, replacing the late E A Toliver. Only 29 ballots were cast with Thomas receiving 38 votes and H G Teter receiving one.
Wittam Walkion Bogie leads the high school track team with a first place finish at the state Interscholastics in Austin. Wallace clocked 21.4 seconds in the final, beating Grand Prairie Jasper’s record by four tenths. He also triumphed over Hardinett in the earlier race amid a strong performance by the squad.
