Remembering Eagle Lake Life and a Small Town Saga
Old time citizens recount life around Eagle Lake from 30 to 70 years ago. Scouts, school events, May Day picnics, local leaders Captain J. W. McCarty and J. J. Mansfield, the lake’s incorporation, the first mayor, and a rattlesnake rescue near the lake area are described alongside tales of the town’s laundry, the Southern Pacific water tank fire, and local folklore from Mr. Jo. Weeten.

Quips and Quirks From a Droll Page of Notes
A collage of jokes and aphorisms on manners, profanity, virtue, and daily life. Short quips reference modest decency, social behavior, and personal foibles, framing a lighthearted, period voice from a late era column. The items mix humor with cautionary lines about vanity, propriety, and mood.
