Funeral Rites Set For John Herman Miles
John Herman Miles dies Thursday after a Monday attack. Funeral services are Saturday at 2 to 2:30 PM at Mill Funeral Home with Rev. Albert M. Brown officiating. Burial at Lakeskie Cemetery. Miles, born January 15 in Weimar, lived in Weimer then Eagle Lake. Survived by Mamie Halyani Miles, a son Doug Miles, two daughters Mrs. B L Richard and Mrs. Alvin Wiese, six grandchildren, a sister Mrs. A W Linke, two nephews D C Miles and R L Linke, a niece Miss Jean Linke. Parents, infant brother, and another brother Bernard preceded him. He was a farmer and long-time road worker for County Commissioner Frank Duty.

Funeral rites were held last Saturday for Edward B. Weishuhn a Garwood area farmer who died at his Garwood home on February 3. Born near Frelsburg on March 25, 1862, he spent 35 years near Garwood. He was buried in Columbus Odd Fellows Cemetery with ministers C Emighols and D Rhea Allison officiating. Survivors include his wife Mary Lyons, one son Herman of Garwood, three daughters and 17 grandchildren.

Roadwork eyed to start May 1 on Matthews Road
District Engineer E. B. Schiller told Eagle Lake visitors in Columbus that plans are being formed for a farm to market road project from Highway 90 A to Wharton County road at Egypt. The work, awaiting Federal approval, is expected to begin around May 1 and bring much needed improvements to the county. A spell of bad weather left roads poor, making the Eagle Lake to Wharton link even more valuable. The Engle Lake High School civics and history classes visited De Predom Trhinon Inet Friday with Superintendent W. C. Reed and others.
