Austin Texas December 27 Brigadier General Paul L Wakefield state Selective Service director declared that no blanket deferment exists for farm workers local boards must individually evaluate each agricultural worker case per law and regulations deferment only possible if the worker produces a substantial local market quantity of agricultural commodities necessary for national heart water or industrial needs and meets the regulatory tests.

Funeral services were held in Beaumont Tuesday afternoon for Tesse M. Cutler aged 38 who died there Sunday morning after a long illness. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. He is survived by his widow Ella Cutler of Beaumont, one daughter Peggy, two sons Harold in the Navy in Korea and Preston in air corps training in Mississippi, three brothers W B Cutler of Dalton City Illinois W T Cutler and A Cutler of Beaumont, and by Mrs Dave Thomas of this city and Mrs Bertha Smith of Ligsie. Attending were Mr. and Mrs Dave Thomas Mrs Bertha Smith Mr. and Mrs RL Cook and Joan Perry of Bonus.
The Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department announced no meeting Monday night due to Christmas and notes January 1 will also be off. Firefighters urge continued vigilance to prevent fires while wishing a Happy New Year. Also reported is baby Robert Starke, four litres over six weeks old, in Caughlin Hospital incubator, weighing two pounds four ounces with recent weight changes.
