Judge Holt to hear a plea for reduction of bond for carpenter Rond Pisa after an automobile accident near Columbus. Rond Pisa held under $250 bond on charges stemming from a crash about a month ago on Highway 9 east of Gross’ Camero, injuring three and causing four deaths. He faces several diversion cases in a Columbus court scheduled for later today.
George W Witton 78 died of a heart attack in La Marque Texas. Funeral services were at First Baptist Church Texas City and interment at Lakeside Cemetery Eagle Lake. Survivors include two daughters Grave Wright Denver Colorado four brothers Robert Whitten Houston and Mrs Le Beech Kansas. Lived in Eagle Lake since 1878 and worked as a butcher for Frank Stephens Co and Wilcox Grocery.

City announces two outdoor and two indoor prizes for the Christmas lighting contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. First outdoor prize 127.06, second 8.00. indoor first 70.00, second 5.00. Entries limited to residents within two and a half miles, lights to be on Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve for judging.
Santa Claus will arrive by plane Tuesday afternoon December 19 in Eagle Lake. He will be escorted from the airport to the downtown square by the Fire Department and sit on a platform to distribute gifts to children. A school choir will perform and City churches will provide carols preceding the gift distribution by Santa at the Henry School.
Fire Chief AB Dipple reports numerous fires this season with as many as four in a single day. He cites carelessness and says recent weeks saw eight to ten fires, many near homes and barns, urging extra caution with Christmas decorations and lights to prevent further incidents.
