Thompson Sees a Better Outlook For Agriculture
In Washington last week I met with the Department of Agriculture and discussed forecasts for rice sales to the Philippine Islands helping clear a stalled market. Officials signaled support for the State ASC, with assurances of legal talent to win the ongoing injunction case, and promised publication of official state allotment figures before the upcoming farmer referendums. The administration is moving toward aid for family farmers based on findings from our Sub committee and a 1500 mile bus tour. The Bureau of Internal Revenue released Farmers Tax Guide on income and self employment taxes, available from the IRS or by postcard request.
