Joe Peters Dies After Auto Crash in Columbus
Joseph F Peters died at Columbus Hospital about four o clock Monday evening from injuries suffered in a automobile accident near Columbus Sunday. Funeral services were held at Mill Funeral Home Wednesday morning with Rev A W Didner officiating. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Julia Steffel Peters four daughters two sisters three brothers and two grandchildren. The community expresses sympathy to the family.

A big crowd watched a ragged amateur softball game at the high school stadium between the Eagle Lake Rotary Club and Earle Lake Lions Club. Proceeds fund a fund for new dressified fate at the athlete field for students and others. Clyde Nispel proved two feet faster on a playful wheel. In the second game the Eagle Bake Aces beat the Eagle All Stars 10 to 2 with Spanihel pitching well.

Joseph Melton Mathis born July 27 1870 in Munbolt Fenn moved to Texas at age twelve. He married Maude Motley in 1801 and lived in Wharton County since 1913 finally settling in Honus. Survived by widow six sons one daughter sixteen grandchildren and a nephew. Funeral at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev Purcell officiating burial in Wharton cemetery.

The Bay Scouts of the Colorado County District Sam Houston Area Council will hold their annual swim meet at the American Legion pool near Fugit Lake on Friday evening August 13 at 6 o clock.
