Durham residents bought more than 2 700 tickets to Raleigh for the State Fair over three days with 146 on Tuesday 800 on Wednesday and 1 454 on Thursday plus 200 straight tickets. The week shows a population movement three to one versus last year with final totals near 3 000 travelers from Durham to Raleigh.

Death of Pearl S. Brown in North Dillard Street home
Pearl S. Brown 27, youngest son of Mrs. J. C. Brown, died of consumption at his mother’s house on North Dillard Street. Funeral held Wednesday at Trinity church with Rev. G. T. Adams officiating, burial in Maplewood cemetery. Browns mother in Durham and two brothers in Ohio and Texas unable to attend. Also, Fair Lane, colored, jailed on a peace warrant sworn by Annie Lunsford, bond set at $50.
