Farmers finish curing tobacco and pulling fodder while racing to take cotton in before cold weather. Illness floods the community with scarlet fever among infants and multiple residents asking for prayers. Miss Anna Cozart injured a tooth in a well incident. Autumn village notes and church revival in Durham area

Bryan to Speak at Virginia State Fair in Richmond

Cases settled in superior court this week in Durham

Numerous civil actions were resolved including Cartway case in favor of George W. Cook overturning prior delays. Miss Fannie Cozart and Wade Mecum Springs achieve a 2000 dollar compromise. Kelly Russel and others settled without trial. New lawyer J Edward Pegram sworn in. Coal Shute cases Scoggins v Southern Road settled by compromise. Leathers title dispute settled. further suit pending for clear deed. Two divorces granted Shullie Edwards Zeb L Edwards Lena F Tucker Charles W Tucker. Telephonic case Manning v Interstate and Wrenn v American Tobacco Company terminated via non suit. No court next week due to judge illness.
