Death of Cecil Carpenter Ends at One Year Old
The eleven month old Cecil, son of Mr and Mrs J Ed Carpenter, died yesterday at their home 11 East Seeman Street at 5 30 pm. Funeral service was held at the home Sunday at 3 pm with interment in Maplewood cemetery. The bereaved family received many condolences from friends and relatives. Mr C F Hughes of Creedmoor visited today. Also present is a Panama Canal Erie Canal note and an advertisement for L and M Paints by Hackney Bros Durham NC highlighting machine aided paint efficiency and a guarantee to repaint if defective.

Re-elected Carmichael Leads Durham Schools Commencement
Prof W D Carmichael is re-elected Durham schools superintendent for another year, succeeding himself after unanimous vote by the school committee. Commencement runs May 29 to 31 with diplomas for 49 graduates, alumni meeting, sermon by Rev G T Adams, and address by J W Bailey at the Conservatory of Music.
