Two Assault Cases Hit Local Courts This Week
In Durham county two Black men faced criminal assault charges. Louis Williams was arrested Friday and his Saturday trial was postponed due to missing witnesses. The alleged assault involved a nine year old girl and her mother who tried to shoot Williams and later confrontations in Hayti. A hat left at the scene was cited as corroborating evidence. Separately, John Thomas was arrested Sunday for assaulting Lenora Strayhorn, a young girl of about 10 or 12, at her home near Lakewood park. The case hinges on the girl's father testimony and limited other details.
