Durham Superior Court Adjourns After Brief Term

Durham Superior Court disposed of criminal cases this term with sentences ranging from four months on the roads to eight months in jail. Several defendants were acquitted or had cases continued or discharged upon payment of costs. Rhodes Herndon faced selling whiskey and a nuisance charge with a $1000 bond carried to the next May term.

Two Deaths At Chapel Hill In Early January 1908

Obituaries report the death of Mr. James Hogan at age about 90 near Chapel Hill after a brief illness. Surviving children are Caroline Emeline Jane Hogan and Mrs. George Riggsbee plus William Edward and A J Hogan. Burial at Hogan family burying ground. Also, Boss Norwood aged around 20 died after a hunting accident on Dec 27. He was son of A R Norwood, county education chairman. Burial at Mt. Pleasant church.
