Tragedy on the Seaboard Line Claims Local Man
John Wilkins age 38 was struck by a train after stepping onto a Southern track to avoid an approaching engine. Witnesses say he appeared unaware of a second train on the Southern line. He died at once. burial followed on Sunday. he left a wife and three children.

The county commissioners selected J. F. Harward to fill the unexpired term of the late Sheriff Markham. Three candidates contested the post: L B. Markham, J. J. Thaxton, and John I. Boy Hurt As Street Car Strikes 12 Year Old
Hubert Dupree son of W R Dupree was injured when a street car struck him as he stepped from a lumber wagon onto the track. He suffered a broken right leg below the knee and bruises but no other serious wounds. He was taken to a hospital and was listed as doing as well as could be expected.
