Claude Fuller visits Duncan from Lordsburg. Sheldon school opens with Miss Gladys Howell. Rev L J Turney travels to Los Angeles. Various ads for sale items and services. Local officials, merchants, and residents are noted including Crawford, Gamble, and Taylor. Community events include a Ladies' Aid social, revival services, and bridge work. Families relocate to Santa Cruz and Duncan welcomes new residents and the Gardner Hotel sale.
On Friday night September 20 1912 Senator Worsley is praised as one of the best speakers in the state and Speaker Bradner is listed among national level speakers in a Democratic event report.
Upton returns from Clifton with son Tom in hospital. Duncan and Clifton prepare for Sunday game on Duncan diamond. Esther Chifton departs for Tempe State Normal. Uncle John Hagan showcases famed valley onions amid growing reputation. Houlihan backs from Cedar Rapids trip, prefers Arizona sun to Illinois days.
The Greenlee County Board of Supervisors declares that Justice Precinct No.2 voted 94 against prohibition to 43 for, enabling the sale of intoxicating liquors within the precinct. An earlier Graham County prohibition order is set aside, with publication ordered in the Duncan Arizonian for four weeks. Wade Hampton chairs the meeting with A. L. Terry as clerk.
In Phoenix on September 16 police officer Robert Williams and bystander Scott Price were killed during a clash between Mexican rioters and Americanized Mexicans over the independence day celebration at city hall plaza. Chief of Police Moore died of repeated stab wounds. another officer was seriously hurt. The attackers escaped as posses and guards pursued them. saloons closed and crowds were deputized to aid the manhunt.
The law forbids boys under 16 from entering saloons in Arizona and guardians may object for those aged 16 to 21 by written notice. Such notices will be respected and complied with at J. L. Spaw’s Duncan business, dated September 12, 1912.
A B and Ed Wilson left Monday for the mountains to camp and hunt about two weeks during which they hope to gain about fifty pounds of flesh. Dr W D Snead and family arrived Sunday from Sierra Blanca Texas and will make their future home in Duncan after purchasing Meigs residence and garden land. The community notes the departure and welcome the Snead family.
