Emma Zufelt, six, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Zufelt, burned to death after a bottle of coal oil exploded near their home. Fire started while the Zufelts returned from a threshing run and Emma was rescued by her brother Samuel, but died about six hours later. The family home burned, and Franklin burial followed. Lovely Woman Gets Chance on a Jury
In Bellingham on September 5 the first jury for the September term was sworn. Six women and six men comprise the panel with ten of the venire being women.
