A grand Thanksgiving spread offered at the Gardner Hotel invites all to dine from 11:39 to 2:00 P.M. The menu features roast turkey with oyster dressing, cranberry sauce, celery and lettuce, salads, fruits, nuts, real coffee, plum pudding, and assorted pies at 50 cents.

Balloon Ascension at Duncan with trained animals and bands

A Duncan Arizona event on November 27, 1911 features a balloon ascent plus a troupe of performers. The show includes trained dogs and ponies, clowns, trick donkeys, gymnasts, wire-walkers, contortionists, thumblers, aerialists, and five music bands.

Henry Thompson an early prospector in this region died at Twin Peaks camp yesterday after a long career here. He had lived here about 20 years and was a longtime friend of Frank Morris who died here months ago. Dr Briley and Judge Cossper went to Twin Peaks for an inquest into Thompson s death. A L Stewart and family arrived in Biancan from Oklahoma with household effects stock and machinery to make this area their home. Stewart, a brother of Constable R S Stewart, is welcomed to the community as he joins a growing local population.

Thanksgiving Proclaimed by Arizona Governor Sloan

Governor Richard E. Sloan of the Territory of Arizona designates November 30, 1911 as a day of Thanksgiving in gratitude for blessings and for statehood. The proclamation, sealed in Phoenix, notes it follows presidential recommendation and is signed by Secretary Geo. U. Young.

Cash Market Brings Cash to Valley Farmers

EK W Taylor secured a cash market via A T Thomson of the A N M Ry linking Douglas to a market for valley surplus. A rate was set to ship bar 4y to Douglas. several thousand sacks sold and over two thousand dollars paid out to farmers, notably the Casper family who moved nearly four thousand sacks. Local farmers received cash directly from the sale proceeds.
