Arizona Governor calls extra session for sweeping 1912 reforms

Governor Hunt issues a proclamation convening the Arizona legislature in Phoenix on May 23 1912 to consider broad items including election laws direct primaries voter registration revenue financing state debt funding state purchasing and many policy changes from corporate regulation to city charters road work and public records. The list spans election integrity taxation reporting public works and authorities plus what would become major constitutional amendments and modernization measures.

Indictment Rumor Ties Three Officials to Records Destruction

The Copper Era reports a rumor that the late grand jury indicted J. H. T. Casper AJ. F. Billings ley and George Webster for mutilation and destruction of public records held in the Board of Supervisors office. Indictment said to be sealed pending service.

Friendly suit over upper Gila water rights debated

Enoch Clark returned from Duncan after serving papers in the water case brought by Wm A Gillispie for the upper Gila valley water users. The suit aims to adjust rights between upper and lower valley users with Judge Shute likely to sit in June as other judges are disqualified.
