Farmers report a strong alfalfa second crop and a robust grain harvest this week. Local residents include Capt Lanneau, Mrs J O Pace, Judge Bullard, Georgie Phillips, Ira Spoon, and Tim Chatman among others. A skating rink, ice cream shop and mirror giveaway are announced for Duncan Hall and E W Taylors. Lost bridle and a newborn may be noted amid community updates and visits.
Greenlee County praised Assessor Jas H Kerby for sending property owners copies of their assessment lists. The letter explains that the practice helps taxpayers verify real estate and personal property values and identify errors before the Board of Equalization. It urges residents to submit any overlooked property between February and June to avoid fivefold penalties.
Full Fledged K. P. and Mr J E Cosper, a valued valley citizen and brother of Supervisor JH T Cosper, earns knighthood after a four week ordeal. The Cosper family, prominent cattle king, previously led a large Democratic vote last fall. The Caspers celebrate multiple won spurs.
Under the Rights of Pythias, Duncan prepares a Fourth of July celebration as committees arrange an excursion train from Clifton Morenci and Lordsburg for the holiday.

Duncan grow th noted by visiting Will J. Owen who came from Safford with Mrs. Owen and daughter Viola to stay several days with E. W. Taylor family. Owen, former resident, praises Duncan’s steady growth and local boosters work while observing outside interest increasingly turning toward the valley.
Jas V Parks demonstrated ropes skill when Henry Sullivans horse bolted from the hitching rack and fled up Main Street with a buggy. Parks chased on horseback, roped the horse, and recovered the runaway without harming buggy or harness in a notable town display.
James T Tong formerly of Dun can directs us to send his paper to Bisbee where he is now located. School superintendent Aker is having a well dug on his recent purchase preparatory to building and moving thereto. Mrs M J Daniels has the typhoid fever at her home near Sheldon. J R Beavers was in town Monday from his farm up the river. Mr Beavers reports the crops as being in fine condition this year.
George Phillips reports a rich gold strike on his mining claim adjoining John A Campbell and Mr Craig in the district. He believes the discovery surpasses all prior finds and many in town are eager for confirmation of the wealth.
W. W. Polley acts as probate judge in absence of Bunch. Valley ranchers plan second alfalfa crop, lighter than usual. Frank Clark returns from University of Arizona. Multiple attorneys and officials visit or work on water rights and canal adjourned court session. Muss Casper, J. L. Leonard, Henry Tippets, W. F. Moyers, G. W. Johnson, James Gale, C. Kartchner quoted on farming, orcharding, alfalfa, and model canal irrigation. Gale claims championship Irish potato crop. Kartchner booster for Model canal. stock and horse improvements noted.
Bedrock New Mexico resident Anthony Connors complains about a subscription and wishes the Arizonian to continue. He denies ordering the paper or agreeing to pay, while newsmen note 1 2 of every hundred will take on credit and reject bills.
In May the Bishop and Sloan agency reported real estate sales totaling 25000 dollars, with April sales exceeding 50000 dollars, indicating strong demand for Gila valley ranches at advanced prices. Dr Moore Rev Aker and B F Billingsley arrived from Clifton this morning.
A Thatcher meeting of valley farmers and hay dealers heard W W Polley report on his Texas market search. A committee was formed to seek an equitable S P R R freight rate enabling alfalfa shippers to enter Texas. Ph Freudenthal of Solomon Commercial Co was chosen to coordinate with railway officers for a rate meeting.
Ten Arizona citizens visited Washington seeking help for state admission. Wearing regulation hats with four dents, they carried letters to John P. Gavit. Gavit welcomed them and suggested hospitality, but the party chose cigars over alcohol, as recounted in the Saturday Evening Post.
Following the local option election eighteen saloons in Tempe Mesa City Wickenburg and Gila Bend closed at midnight Monday May 29th, removing alcohol sales from those communities.
Sidney Beiber, a Washington Republican politician, purchased the Arizona Silver Belt at Globe from James J. Williams of Tucson and the matter is expected to sizzle.
