Arizona establishes State Board of Immigration and Publicity

The state creates a seven member Bureau of Immigration and Publicity led by the Governor ex officio. Appointed members must be from different counties and no more than three from one party. The board oversees information on Arizona, promotes immigration and investment, and may hire a non member Secretary at 2500 dollars yearly. Meetings occur the second Monday in April and October, with potential auxiliary offices and outside exhibits.

Burro Thief Caught After Chase to Franklin

Constable R S Stewart and W T Cauthen pursued a Mexican burro thief from here to Metcalf and captured both men. The thief had stolen a $250 jack from Mr. Cauthen. He appeared before Justice McGrath at Franklin, was bound over to await the grand jury, gave bond, and is at large. The burro was returned to its owner.

E V Sands and family departed Douglas for Tombstone where he has been chosen by Sheriff Wheeler as jailor. Sands, who worked at the Copper Queen smelter for a year and a half, lamented leaving many friends in Douglas yesterday.
