President Taft will not send his veto message to Congress today after a cabinet meeting. The semi official note denounces the recall of the judiciary in the Arizona constitution. Taft plans to remain at Ocean Grove until Wednesday. A new measure to admit Arizona and New Mexico without the recall is reported to be prepared and pushed through the houses.

County Names Two Ranger Deputies

Resignation Not Accepted of Duncan Justice Bullard
The Duncan precinct justice J. K. Bullard offered his resignation after a Board of Supervisors dispute over a deduction from his demands. The board returned the resignation with Not Accepted written, a move later found to be unjustified as Bullard’s charges were legal. The resignation was not accepted.

Death of Mrs. Mary Arhelger in Santa Rita
Relatives mourn the death of Mrs. Mary Arhelger aged about 26 in Santa Rita New Mexico after a brief illness of heart trouble. She grew up in Duncan and was sister to Mrs. Joe McAlister. She leaves two children. Burial followed in Duncan with Rev. J W Akers presiding.

Government Crop Report Not Encouraging
The monthly crop report of the department of agriculture shows a tremendous decline in crops nationwide due to drought and heat. It marks the worst general crop conditions since 1901, with the heaviest impact from New York and Pennsylvania to the Rocky Mountains, while southern states largely hold with adequate rains and the Pacific Northwest remains excellent despite a brief July heat spell.

Tragedy in Metcalf as Villareal shoots two women then kills himself
In Metcalf around 10 am August 5 Gregorio Villareal shot Anna Estrada and her mother Susana Sanchez twice wounding them before turning a gun on himself. Deputy Arnett and G M Harris rushed to the scene finding Anna dead with her baby in her arms and Susana later dying at Shannon hospital in Clifton. Villareal survived with a self inflicted head wound. The motive is believed jealousy.

Fred Krueger left for Los Angeles to seek a future home, planning his wife to join him later. Don Dunnigan Sr came from Animas for the funeral of his daughter Mrs Mary Arbelger who died at Santa Rita and was shipped here for burial.

Petar Anderson, 59, prominent Graham county resident and early pioneer, died at his Safford home from acute indigestion after a brief illness. Born in Norway on September 16, 1852, he settled in the Gila Valley after stints in North Dakota and Minnesota, developed a renowned ranch, and promoted numerous local enterprises including the Bowie Land Improvement Co. He and his first wife raised three orphans. his widow is Ruth Wilson of Globe.

Pioneer Thomas J. Neese Died After Long Illness
Thomas J. Neese of Solomonville died at his Stockton Pass home on Tuesday after years of illness due to paralysis. A Confederate veteran, he had lived in the valley since 1875 and once served as county treasurer. He leaves two brothers in the valley and several relatives elsewhere. his wife died in 1872 and he never remarried.
