The Joe Cowan Memorial Sports Award was presented by Coach J Bennett Josie to Roger and Russell Cowan, younger brothers of a deceased DHS athlete who died after a Duchesne area car accident. The honor was announced May 23 at the school's achievement program and the engraved names will be kept on the school's plaque trophy. The Cowan brothers are sons of Reed and Mrs. Cowan of Duchesne and brothers of Jim Cowan.

Poppy Day signals in Duchesne with 700 flowers planned
The Duchesne Unit 22 American Legion Auxiliary will distribute 700 red poppies on Saturday in downtown Duchesne and surrounding areas. Poppy posters from local students decorate a window display at Kohl's, and unused flowers will be made into wreaths for veterans’ graves at Western Duchesne County cemeteries on Memorial Day.
