Duchesne High School Graduate to Receive Baylor PhD

Clive D. Moon of Duchesne will receive a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Baylor University June 3 in Waco Texas. He defended his dissertation on The Stereo chemistry of p Quinone disben zene sulfomimides and Related Compounds. Moon, DHS 1953 honor student, later studied at BYU Tulsa and earned a BS in 1960. He holds a three year National Defense Fellowship worth 11200 and now works with Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville Oklahoma. He is married to Patricia Nelson and has four children. The Duchesne morbidity report lists six measles cases in the county as of April 29 1966.

Minor injuries in Utah car crash near Duchesne

Herbert Wright of Salt Lake City escaped serious harm after a one car crash five miles west of Duchesne. His 1963 Studebaker station wagon was a total loss after running off the highway, striking a sandrock and rolling twice. Troopers Rasmussen and Hooper investigated. no citation issued. Deputy Sheriff Hadden aided at the scene.

Tom White Receives Carleson Scholarship at USU Convocation

Tom White will be awarded the Harry E. and Vera F. Carleson scholarship during the awards and honors convocation for the College of Business and Social Sciences at Utah State University in Logan. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony in the Student Union Ballroom recognizes an outstanding economics student, a sophomore son of Melvin B. and (Mrs.) White of Duchesne, with a tuition plus benefits award.

Duchesne Wards Plan Fathers and Sons Outing

The Duchesne Wards will combine forces Saturday for a Fathers and Sons Outing at Split Mountain Gorge and Dinosaur National Monument. The group gathers at the Duchesne Stake Center at 9 a.m. Those attending may ride with provided transportation and should pack their own lunches. Ice cream and punch will be served as a luncheon treat.

Little League Baseball Starts Saturday May 13

The Western Boys Baseball Association met Monday night. The first games of the 1966 season open Saturday May 13 with Kohls vs Myron at Duchesne and Texaco vs Altamont at Altamont at 3 p.m. Public urged to attend. boys show promising talent.

Five injured in Fruitland head-on truck crash

Mrs. Rose E. Christensen died at St. Mark's Hospital after a two-truck collision near Addley's Store on U S Highway 40. Her husband Andrew Christensen 68 and Arden Sullivan 38 suffered injuries along with two Sullivan boys. All were treated at Heber Valley and St. Mark's Hospitals.

Hanksville Marks 84th Anniversary With Community Supper

In Hankville Utah residents celebrated the 84th anniversary of the town with a mutton supper and sourdough biscuits. The valley north of the Henry Mountains was the site of Ebenearer Hanks 1884 settlement invitation that helped establish the community.
