Mrs Ralph Brown visits her mother Mrs William McMillan in Fruitland while Mrs Lizzie Muir works with sheep shearers in Midway. Art Smertz, Intermountain welterweight champion, wins two falls and ties with Ralph Mute in a Friday Fruitland hall event. Proceeds from the show fund Fruitland basketball equipment as local youths report steady baseball play and a road camp win.

Mr and Mrs William Orr and fam were guests of Mrs Orrs parents N A Dittchel Sunday. Mr and Mrs Dallas Mitchell and two children of Salt Lake are visiting relatives for a few days. Mr and Mrs Alton Smith of Castle Gate are visiting here for a few days.

The fifth to eighth grades held closing exercises on Thursday night at the ward house with well rendered parts. The lower grades performed Friday at the school house then served ice cream and cake to parents and children. Miss Inez Durant returned home Friday. A surprise party honored Mrs. F E Reynolds's mother's 8th birthday. The Relief Society sponsored the program with refreshments. Miss Agnes Kenison of Talmage served as home missionary at Sunday sacrament meeting. Irvin Pearson enjoyed a brief visit from his sister. Funeral services for Mrs. P C Fieldsted were held Wednesday with Bishop E B Cox presiding. Speakers included President Bennion and C A Erickson. Surviving Mrs Fieldsted is her son William. Mrs Fieldsted suffered rheumatism. County tractors and graders are improving roads, notably Reynolds Dugway and the Big Hollow. Mr and Mrs Defa Jr visited the sick in Heber Sunday.

R A Alexander and family relocated to a ranch. Mrs. Alexander was the school janitor last year.

Tom Trobarts returns home soon from hospitalization as others visit, while Wadley and Atwood family members improve at Heber hospital and Riverside Park hotel guests are reported. Woolf Creek reopening expected soon amid light rain across the region.
County commissioners spent much of the session adjusting taxes for the Poor and Indigents with cuts additions and restorations. They allocated fifty dollars to Tabiena people for Golden State road work and joined the Western States Counties Association to seek relief from unpaid Indian land taxes. G V Billings became director representing Duchesne County. The clerk will invite A G Nord to supply a Caterpillar grader and operator for Forest Service road construction including the North Fork Duchesne project.
The Mayton community plans a second Sunday in May service dedicated to mothers with a 11 o clock start. The message urges inviting someone who may be deprived without a ride and sharing religious emotion in this Inspiring event.
W G Gentry visited Duchesne last week. Mr and Mrs Horace Alfred of To Roosevelt called at the Gentry home Sunday. Mr and Mrs Milligan joined Mr and Mrs J W Jensen Wednesday evening. Mrs J H Robison hosted a birthday party for her husband on April 16 with Otto Troyd and Ed Burgener among guests. Mrs O A Dart and Mrs W Gentry attended a Ladies Aid gathering at Mrs E Tu Jensen’s home Wednesday. Mrs W H Stone and Mrs P L A Ross traveled to Vernal last week for the death of their mother Caroline Wardle.
The Myton baseball team defeated the ship Leam champions 6 to 0 in seven innings on May 2. Pitcher Charles Colorow and catcher Darrell Dean anchored the win before Dean left with a finger injury replaced by Milton Lott. The lineup included D Dean Bentry Johnson Cotorow Lott Urisk C Dean Krebs Jensen Henry. Myton travels to Bing Bell for a practice game the next day and faces Montwell on the 6th at home.
