Charles R. Barton Laid to Rest
The funeral for Charles R. Barton, former Duchesne County sheriff, was held at the Town Hall in Duchesne on a Saturday in June under American Legion auspices. Attendees included Legion members in uniform and Auxiliary women. services featured local pastors and a Provo attorney as principal speaker, followed by interment with Legion rites and taps. Barton, born August 27, 1878 in Elko Nevada, lived in Wyoming and Utah, served as Duchesne County sheriff, and died June 17 after surgery, leaving a widow Bessie, son Jack, brother William, and sister Addie.

Myton Community Church Summer Plente at John Johns Ranch
The second plente of the summer will be held at John Johns ranch on Sunday the 18th. Sunday Service will meet on the grounds at 1 oclock with classes for all ages and a sermon at 11 am. Lunch baskets will be served at noon in a friendly community reunion gathering. Men and boys unable to provide lunches are urged to attend, transportation meet at the church by 9:30.

Automobile Crash Proves Fatal Near Price
Charley Blackburn, longtime herder for Knight Investment Co, died from internal injuries after a crash six miles south of Price. He had just bought a Ford from Duchesne Motor Co and was driving with John Davis from Salt Lake when his car rolled over after a close pass and quick turn. Blackburn, 54, previously of Minersville, is survived by his mother in Ferron, a divorced wife and seven children, five brothers, three sisters, and several relatives in Clawson and Los Angeles. Burial occurred in Ferron after services.

A 100 plus Helper caravan arrived at noon Thursday and was entertained by the Duchesne Gateway Club. Mayor and Helper officials dined with Gateway Club members at Dinty Moore's cafe as R. G. Porter served as toastmaster. The visit featured talks, a 40 piece band, and a pledge to commemorate Helper Day on June 25 while touring to Myton Roosevelt and Vernal.
