Board of Education Reduces Tax Levy in Duchesne County
Duchesne county board of education met in Myton and cut the 1927-28 tax levy to 14.6 mills from 16.5 by excluding full debt-service additions and pledging tighter budgets. Over the past three years debt service fell 25,700 dollars, while building needs raised 112,500 dollars for new rooms to serve more than half the district’s children. Residents showed interest at the public budget hearing.

Florida alligator sent to Free Press dies en route
The Free Press received an alligator from Florida, about 14 inches long, but the reptile died during a thousand mile journey. It was shipped in a bamboo crate from the Caloosahatchee region. Glenn Ghaw and family delivered it, noting it may have been a young specimen with sharp teeth.

Indian Ball Team to Play Two Games at Price
The St Duchesne Indian baseball team, Uintah basin league member, will meet the Price ball team in Price for two July 4 games. First at 1 40 PM, second at 5 PM. Manager L R Bills closed the deal with D W Seeley of Ft Duchesne. The Indians seek a strong Independence Day showing after two defeats this season.
