The May 25 issue notes opening day crowds for fashion in New York with fashion items described as the toque crown bonnets very new and stylish. It highlights trimming with ostrich feathers gold steel and jet, velvet, and plumes including tropical birds and peacock feathers. Prices reach sixty to one hundred dollars for Parisian styles using silk lints and velvet.

The Missouri delegation met President Lincoln by appointment with their Chinarman Drake to urge military command changes in Missouri. They demand restoration of national officers, discharge of state militia, and replacement of Gen. Schofield with a commander sympathetic to Missouri. They advocate Maj. Gen. Butler and warn of renewed persecution if denied.
