Coroner Vandersics testified about statements by Mrs Kane’s brothers that prompted a change from accidental drowning to murder.

Sale of Licenses Starts Tomorrow

Privilege and automobile licenses go on sale in Houston county tomorrow. Probate Judge Harry K. Martin announced the details. Delinquent status begins after October 31 with license tags becoming delinquent after November 14. A license inspector's fee and 15 percent of the due amount will be charged to those who pay late, Martin said.

Teachers Will Attend Rural High School Methods Day

In Etowah County, Alabama teachers will report October 10 for the first countywide school of methods. County Superintendent W. V. Luckle says the program helps rural high schools align with other schools. Demonstrations will be led by Miss Annie Hendrix, Miss Elizabeth Hell, and Ren, with H. C. Judge of Probate Goes Cash October First

The probate office will switch to cash basis on October 1 for recording deeds mortgages and other instruments. Incoming records will incur charges at the time brought to the office as kept by the judge who expects the current system to end keeping expenses. The change aims to abolish certain upkeep costs.

Man Reported Shot By Brother-in-Law in Birmingham

James Hudson of Decatur is hospitalized in a critical condition from bullet wounds allegedly inflicted by his brother-in-law Ernest Roe buck Hudson. He told officers Roe buck went to Roebuck's home to pursue his estranged wife, who had filed a divorce bill in Jefferson County, and the shooting followed.

Ozark Woman Annie Jordan Dies After Asthma Attack

Funeral services were held at 3 p m at the family residence for Miss Annie Newman Jordan who died after a severe asthma attack. She had served 20 years as an operator at the local telephone exchange and was a Baptist church member. Burial followed in Union cemetery. R L Cooper 48 mayor of Elba was found dead in his office with a pistol nearby. Coroner ruled death accidental or suicide after L B Mullins, a bookkeeper, left the mayor and returned to find him dead.
